Estonian Foreign Minister visits EUMM

The Deputy Head of Mission Erik Hoeeg and EUMM staff welcomed the Estonian Foreign Minister H.E. Marina Kaljurand and her delegation at the EUMM headquarters on 10 November 2015.

Minister Kaljurand was briefed about the mandate of the Mission and the latest trends, including the negative impact of ‘borderisation’ on the lives of local communities on both sides of the Administrative Boundary Lines (ABL). In a follow up discussion issues touched upon included local farmers access to land in the vicinity of the South Ossetian ABL, the situation of school children who are crossing the ABL as well as educational situation in the Gali district.

During her visit to the EUMM Foreign Minister Kaljurand met with the Estonians working in EUMM, expressing her support for the Mission’s role in maintaining stability on the ground.

The Minister was accompanied by Estonia’s Ambassador to Georgia, Priit Turk, and a delegation from the Estonian MFA.
