On 14-15 March RELEX, the Foreign Relations Counsellors Working Group of the European Commission visited the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia. EUMM is the first CSDP Mission RELEX has ever visited. Ambassador Andrzej Tyszkiewicz, the Head of Mission welcomed the representatives from all EU member states. The primary goal of the visit was to discuss issues related to Mission logistics and finance, but also it presented an opportunity for the Mission to give these senior EU representatives an overview of the reality in Georgia, as laid down in its Mandate. The visitors were also updated on the current challenges and activities of the Mission, and they joined patrols to the Administrative Boundary Line to gain first hand experience of work on the ground.
