On 21 November the Human Security Team from the Field Office Zugdidi hosted the 34th Information Sharing Meeting (ISM) for NGOs in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti.
29 persons from
18 organizations participated in exchange of information about their current
activities and on-going projects.
The ISM was initiated by UNOMIG in 2002 and since then
the meetings have been taking place regularly every six to eight weeks. After departure
of UNOMIG in summer 2009, due to the non-extension of its mandate, the Human
Security Team of EUMM FO Zugdidi took over chairing of these meetings. It is the
only platform for all local NGO actors to meet and exchange views with each
other.
The FOZ
Reporting Information Officer gave an overview of the security situation along
the ABL, while the Human Security Team presented the situation of schoolchildren
crossing the ABL.
Participants of
the meeting took interest in discussing the issue of re-registration of those IDPs,
who were unable to cross the ABL. Besides, participants were informed about the
possibility to apply for project funding via COBERM II program and UN Democracy
Fund.
The next ISM is
scheduled for 16 January 2014.
