EUMM calls on all sides to show restraint

19.09.2012
The Head of the EU Monitoring Mission, Ambassador Tyszkiewicz, calls on all sides to show restraint and refrain from words and actions that could be considered provocative at this particularly sensitive time. He has said:

“At this sensitive time, with the on-going Russian Federation Military exercises “Caucasus 2012” and the upcoming Georgian Parliamentary elections, it is vital that all sides show restraint and refrain from anything that could be considered provocative. It is in no one’s interest to incite the situation during this period.”

The EUMM has adjusted its focus at this time to monitoring issues and activities that could possibly lead to provocation, whilst continuing to work with all sides through the “hotline” to reduce tension. Our aim remains to maintain the security and stability of the people living in the areas adjacent to the administrative boundary lines.
