24.03.2011

The twenty sixth IPRM meeting, under UN chairmanship, took place in Gali on Tuesday 22 March 2011.

In a constructive and professional manner, participants agreed on a code of conduct for patrols when they approached certain points at the Administrative Boundary Line.

They also declared they would immediately activate the hotline to prevent any misunderstandings over issues or incidents that might otherwise lead to the threat or use of force. Participants once again exchanged information on the detention of two local residents and the immediate release and return of one of the detainees was requested.

It was also agreed that the issue of the restoration of a shuttle bus service over the Inguri bridge, which had been operating under UN auspices until the summer of 2008, would be presented for consideration to the relevant authorities.

The next IPRM meeting is scheduled to take place in Gali on 4 May 2011.
