GENERAL SECURITY SITUATION, FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT DISCUSSED AT LATEST IPRM IN GALI ON 20 SEPTEMBER

Thirtieth meeting under the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM), chaired by the United Nations, took place in Gali on 20 September 2011.

Participants discussed general security situation since the last meeting in July which was assessed as calm. A follow up on the matters discussed during the previous meetings were provided by participants. Among them were two detention cases and freedom of movement of the local residents. The Participants also presented additional available information on the above issues. Safety of a pedestrian bridge and alleged helicopter overflights were also raised.

The meeting took place in a constructive and businesslike atmosphere.


The next meeting is due to take place in Gali on 26 October 2011.
