Head of EUMM Kęstutis Jankauskas meets the President of Georgia

Ambassador Kęstutis Jankauskas held a meeting with the President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili on 5 February. The President welcomed Ambassador Jankauskas and expressed his full support to the European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia stressing the importance of EUMM’s contribution to maintaining stability on the ground.

The sides discussed number of topics during the meeting. Among them were political environment in the region and the possibility and importance of resuming the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) meetings in Gali. In addition, the President briefly outlined the main aspects of his initiative to build internal consensus on the basic principles for the conflict resolution launched in December.
