EU Monitoring Mission Field Office Zugdidi presented the Mission’s work to participants of the Student Youth Council (SYC) Workshop in Kobuleti

On 14 April, the EU Monitoring Mission Field Office in Zugdidi gave a presentation to 29 international students in the Erasmus + programme attending a ‘PLUS1Aid-Refugees Welcome’ workshop on Human Rights and Migration issues. Participants from Germany, Greece, Italy, Poland, Turkey, Ukraine and Georgia were briefed on the EU Monitoring Mission’s Mandate and it’s monitoring of Human Rights issues in particular. 

The course was organised by the Georgian Student Youth Council under the Erasmus + programme, which is funded by the German National Agency. It is a 7-day training course, focusing on developing personal and professional skills of trainers and youth working, in migration related issues.

Participants welcomed the EU Monitoring Mission’s presentation and showed particular interest in the issues of Internally Displaced Persons, freedom of movement, the Administrative Boundary Line crossing regime, the role of security actors along the Administrative Boundary Lines and ‘borderisation’.
