Foreign Minister of Sweden visits EUMM

02.10.2020
On 2 October, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden Ann Linde visited the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM) in Georgia.

The Head of the EUMM, Ambassador Marek Szczygieł, welcomed the minister and briefed her on the work of the Mission. He highlighted the challenges for local communities on both sides of the Administrative Boundary Line (ABL) in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, freedom of movement restrictions and ‘borderisation’ activities.

During a patrol to the ABL with South Ossetia and the closed Odzisi controlled crossing point as well as through exchanges with EUMM monitors the minister gained a first-hand impression of the situation at the ABL and the Mission’s contribution for stability on the ground.

Head of Mission thanked the minister for Sweden’s continuous support, including for seconding many dedicated women and men to the Mission.

Minister Ann Linde expressed her gratitude for the informative field visit, while reiterating Sweden’s unwavering support and appreciation for the Mission’s work.
