The Head of the EU Monitoring Mission met with the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia

The Head of the EU Monitoring Mission (EUMM) in Georgia, Mr. Erik Høeg, met with the Minister of Internal Affairs, H.E. Mr. Giorgi Gakharia, on 6 March 2018. 

The Head of Mission expressed his satisfaction with the functional cooperation on the ground and welcomed the continuing full compliance of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs with the Six Point Agreement and follow-up commitments.

Mr. Erik Høeg and the Minister discussed the security situation at the Administrative Boundary Lines, in particular the case of Mr. Archil Tatunashvili and efforts to expedite the return of his body to the family. 

Mr. Gakharia expressed his gratitude for the valuable role that the Mission plays in monitoring events, as the only international monitoring presence on the ground, and underlined the importance of the EUMM in maintaining stability. There was agreement that the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) is a vital instrument to facilitate dialogue and handle incidents.
