EUMM EXPRESSES CONCERN AT FIRING IN THE VICINITY OF ITS PATROL NEAR ODZISI

27.01.2009
The European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM) has expressed its concern about the firing of shots today in the vicinity of one of its patrols carrying out their normal duties in an area close to the Georgian police checkpoint at Odzisi.

Head of Mission Hansjorg Haber has commented: “This incident is totally unacceptable. Our monitors are unarmed and entitled to carry out their patrols unhindered. This is a breach of the Sarkozy-Medvedev Agreements which ban the use of force by all sides. We urge all sides to restrain from further provocations.”
